Description
12x16 unstretched oil painting
02IK1153
Igor Khrykin was born in 1963 in the former Soviet Union. He is the eldest of five children in a family of painters. His father enhanced the family’s library with reproductions of famous paintings, which spurred the curiosity of young Khrykin. He began painting early in childhood, never considering his pastime as career-worthy.
After finishing his primary education, Khrykin enlisted in the army. He traveled extensively throughout the former Soviet Union and visited the Far East, the Caucasus, Ural, Lake Baikal, Siberia, Kazakh, Steppe, Kuban, Crimea and Georgia. He observed lifestyles and cultures, which shaped his visions for his future as an artist.
“After service in the army, I worked for the Philharmonic Society in theatre and at the same time, participated in road building survey works. During this period of time, I started to paint professionally and began to paint icons. Later, I started to decorate rural churches. One day, this brought me to the monastery where I now live. Surrounding this monastery are forests, meadows, groves, and bogs which invite me to stamp them on canvas.”; 12x16 unstretched oil painting
