Generally quite sound as discovered in a Central Florida, USA sale of estate items condition, there is a nick requiring consolidation and a small flake in the adult subject forehead, some fine craquelure about the child's eyes and scattered elsewhere, a light rub to the upper left background and edge rubbing under the frame rabbet, early 19C canvas trimmed and non-wax lined on late 19C stretched canvas, UV shows multiple inpaintings scattered throughout sitters and concentrations along lower sections and left side of canvas, 19C frame with second half 20C rebuild, frame gilt has medium even wear throughout front and heavy somewhat even wear to sides with scattered nicks and scratches yet remains generally handsome, canvas anchored with late 20C offsets and not strung with wire.
