This is the 1957 Galerie de L'Institut publication, "L'Aventure dada, 1916-1922" (100 numbered text pages, followed by illustrations), by Georges Hugnet, with an introduction by Tristan Tzara. All text is in french. The cover (app. 6.375" x 9.5") is in good condition, with shallow edge wear, a brown stain at the back cover's top edge, and a shallow tear at the top of the spine, but with no prominent stains or tears, and no fade to the Marcel Duchamp cover art or the lettering. The spine is securely attached, as are the front and back covers. This is the writer Matthew Josephson's copy, with his name written to the front end page (see photo), below the penciled-in price. There is no other writing, but there are occasional pencil sidelines, presumably Josephson's additions. There are no stamps or other attachments. The binding is secure, with no loose or missing pages. One spread (pages 38-39) are tanned to their tops, the result of a page marker having been left in place. There are no other notable stains to the text or art pages. A small number of pages have shallow chatter to the outside edges, but none of this extends more than an eighth of an inch into the page. Most pages have no such chatter.
