Chinese early 19th c. Mirror Box. A hard solid rosewood Chinese mirror box inlaid in mother of pearl and brass metal, having handles and clasp. The box unfolds. The top part which holds a framed mirror can be left up, supported by the lid and a piece of wood across the front. These boxes were first brought back to Europe by merchants of the different Asian traveling companies. They were not made for the European market and the fronts often contained pictures of beautiful Asian Ladies, this one is missing the original portraits, add your own.
