Extremely Rare. One of only 150 copies printed.The first printing of the Grolier Club 1884. A Decree of Star Chamber concerning Printing. Green Morocco Leather, tooled floral gilt ornamentation on front, back and sides. Inside borders of similar design, gilt top. bound in by R.W. Smith, finished by F. Mansell. This book was purchased in a 1930 auction at the American Art Association Anderson Galleries in New York for a auction of David Randall's Private Press Books. It was sold by his order. Mr. Randall was, of course, a member of the Grolier Club. David Anton Randall (5 April 1905 – 25 May 1975) was an American book dealer, librarian and bibliographic scholar. He was head of Scribner's rare book department from 1935 to 1956, librarian of the Lilly Library and Professor of Bibliography at Indiana University. Randall was responsible for the sale of two copies of the Gutenberg Bible.[As a practitioner of bibliology with a bibliophiliac addiction, a raconteur of history of books, and an avid collector, he developed a keen appreciation for books as physical objects, including the tasks of collecting, cataloging, finding and preserving them.
