DESCRIPTION: Painted Tole tray with central pastoral scene of a girl herding sheep and neo-classical border design. Circa 1810-30. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Dr. Beate A. Schiwek (1943-2016) of Chambersburg, PA. In 1994, this piece was on loan for display to Shreve, Crump & Low of Boston, MA., a purveyor of luxury goods. MEASUREMENTS: 28" x 21-3/4". CONDITION: Craquelure and losses to paint decoration (paint chips included in envelope). Bottom with ownership marks and scratching.
