**First Time At Auction**
Ancient Near East, Sumeria, probably Akkadian period, ca. 2350 to 2150 BCE. A matched jewelry ensemble including a necklace and earrings featuring faience and carnelian beads, with the faience beads probably from the great ancient city of Agade (Akkad). There are seven pale blue-green larger faience beads, their surfaces skillfully incised, seven smaller, cylindrical pale blue-green faience beads, and fourteen carnelian beads of rounded forms all strung on gold filled pins with gold filled links, fittings, and chain. Faience was very fashionable at this time, and faience beads have been found as far afield as the Indus Valley and the Gulf of Oman. The design of the necklace features a long, central, composite drop pendant flanked by two pairs of matching drop composite pendants. The earrings present a matching composite drop pendant designs. A lovely ensemble of wearable art! Size: chain measures 18" L (45.7 cm); longest dangler 2" L (5.1 cm); earrings measure 2" L (5.1 cm)

Condition
Beads are ancient and show minor wear commensurate with age. Gold filled chain and fittings are modern and excellent.
