A VICTORIAN LADY'S MARQUETRY INLAID OAK, CHERRY AND ROSEWOOD CORNER WARDROBE, LAST HALF 19TH CENTURY, the molded crown, over a wide, bound swag and flower garland inlaid frieze, above a central wide beveled glazed door opening to open shelf storage at center, within two small interior open corner shelves, flanked by exterior, triangular, open candle shelves, above a small leaf and berry inlaid frieze, over inset marquetry panels decorated with beribboned, graduating flower bloom garlands, above oval palm frond medallions, over ebony and birds eye maple inlaid flaming Neoclassical style handled urns, above an anthemia spray, issuing strings of bellflowers, leafy tendrils, and Greek key scrolls, surmounting a base with two short glove drawers, over a single long drawer, flanked by flower bloom lattice motif marquetry inlaid inset panels, raised on a molded edge, wide plinth base, the whole fitted with Hobbs & Co. Locks, London, one marked Cheapside, attributed to the locksmith Alfred Charles Hobbs (American/English 1812-1891). Height: 83 1/2" Width: 53 1/2" Depth: 25 1/2"
Condition
Some surface wear, mild scratches, dents, and wear throughout. Some molding now lacking. Mild bowing of some inlaid panels. Most interior shelves have been replaced. Interior fabric lining now lacking. Overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
