Mexico, Philip V, 8-Reales 1733MF, Mexico City, 24.9g (KM 103). About very fine, waterworn, rare.This coin is believed to have been excavated from the wreck of the Dutch East Indiaman Rooswijk, which foundered on the Goodwin Sands in late December 1739 with the loss of all hands. Included in the cargo were many silver coins and ingots. After the remains of the vessel were discovered over two hundred later, an excavation was carried out in 2004/5.
