Description
An early twentieth century silver menorah, the octagonal stepped foot rising to a knopped and panelled tapered stem with Star of David surmount (A/F), supporting eight graduated branches and a central ninth light. Hallmarked Britton, Gould & Co., Birmingham 1928, Rd 63493. Maximum height measuring 8 inches (20.3 cm), weight 9.3 ozt (289.3 grams).
Condition
In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The Star of David surmount is present but not attached to the top of the stem, requires repair and attention. The ninth holder is bent inwards towards the stem and its rim is also creased. Compression to the knopped stem is causing the menorah to tilt backwards and appear off centre, also some minor splits appearing along the stem edges. Remnants of wax visible to the interior of the sockets. Hallmarks clear and legible.
