MASSACHSUSETTS, CIRCA 1794 An early American chapbook edition of "The Prodigal Daughter" authored by the Reverend Mr. William and printed by E. Russell, Boston. The book is illustrated with seven woodcuts including a strong impression of the devil approaching the girl in the story, possibly created by Pomeroy Fleet, a slave working for the publisher at the time.
