Description
Gould, John. British (1804-1881). Gould, Elizabeth, British, (1804-1841). 8 hand-colored lithographs from "The Birds of Europe", London, 1832 - 37. The plates are: Ruddy Shieldrake ++ Snow Goose ++ Red Breasted Merganser ++ Red-Throated Diver ++ Western Duck ++ Eider Duck ++ Manks Shearwater ++ Cinereous Shearwater. All plates measure approximately 14.75" x 21.5".
Provenance: A Virginia Collector.
Condition: Most plates are very good to near fine, edge gilding is present in all cases; a little toning around the edges and some edges are ragged and/or perforated where they were removed from the book.
