Description
WW I Kyffhauser War Commemorative Metal, instituted on June 18, 1921 by the Kyffhauser Bund, and umbrella organization of German Veterans and Reservists in conjunction with the 25th Jubilee of the erection of the Kyffhauser monument. Definitive refusal of the German government to produce a commemorative medal lead to the founding of this medal, for those who served at hte home front during WW I, the medal shows a war-torn banner and inscription, "To Arms with Honor Intact" (in German), 1914-1918 and four lightning bolts, center of reverse has a citation of Field Marshal Paul Von Hindenburg from his Order of the Day, Nov. 12, 1918, both sides rimmed with thin Laurel wreath, with top hole and loop ring with ribbon ring (no ribbon), gilt bronze. CONDITION: Some surface wear and spotting from age and handling.
