Striking map of the island of Java in the Dutch East Indies, with topographical features pictorially depicted, as well as the animals populating the island, the agricultural fields, towns and cities, etc. Depths are shown by soundings. There is a large hand-colored panorama of Batavia from the sea stretching across the top of the eastern sheet, and a picture of a Lion (Leo Belgicus) offered tribute by a black man, below which are two other blacks in chains, on the western sheet.
