Biography: Roslyn Nathanson Klarish was a prominent and highly regarded interior designer based in Manhattan. She was a contemporary of all the well-known designers and artists of the “Mad Men” mid-century era and designed the homes of a who’s who of New York luminaries, including Billy Rubin while he was the curator of the Museum of Modern Art. Her work was chronicled in numerous international magazines and she socialized with the Avant-garde in the art world before they knew they were the Avant-garde. Her social crew included names such as Jackson Pollack, Robert Rauschenberg and Helen Frankenthaler. In the later part of the century, Roslyn managed showrooms in the Designer and Decorator building where she continued to keep her fingers on the pulse of the evolving design community and serve as a mentor to upcoming designers.
