Description
Plaza Hotel NY Neoclassical crystal handelier. The classic cut glass crystal and gilt brass chandelier from the Lady Mendl Suite of New York's legendary Plaza Hotel. The stunning basket form chandelier hung for decades in the dining room of the exclusive Lady Mendl Suite, named after the international hostess and interior designer, Elsie de Wolfe Mendl. The classic and sparkling chandelier was sold with the contents of the glamorous and celebrated New York City landmark hotel at the Christie's, New York - March 15, 2006 auction. The chandelier sold for $3840 and is pictured on page 228 of the Christie's auction catalog, lot number 226. The chandelier is suspended with button chains and has five pairs of scrolling arms draped with swags. Ornate lighting fixture has a cut glass bowl form base supported by scrolling and acanthus arms. Good working order, some minimal prism loss. Measures 43 inches high x 38 inches in diameter. A copy of the March 2006 - The Plaza - Christie's auction catalog with prices realised, is included with the chandelier. In good condition.
