Hollow handle custom made pieces are usually not stamped due to their hollow construction. The Francis I pattern has an ornate handle that is decorated with scrollwork, assorted fruits and blossoms. This pattern became a favorite of presidents and nobility.

Reed & Barton is a prominent American silversmith manufacturer based in Massachussetts, operating between 1824 and 2015. Its specialties include sterling silver and silverplate flatware. Rooted in American history, the firm produced a considerable amount of weapons for Union Army soldiers during the Civil War.
