Description
Gray's Elegy by Thomas Gay. Elegy written in a country churchyard by Thomas Gray, 1912. Attractive full brown leather binding with gilt lettering on the spine. Limited edition of 469 copies with all of the illustrations signed in pencil by the artist. The title page and text of this edition are from copper plates by artist William Harry Warren Bicknell, engraved by Arthur N. MacDonald, the illustrations were designed and etched on copper. All the original copper plates that these etchings came from have been destroyed. Near Fine in two slipcases, with a very slight amount of rubbing at corners. Printed for members of the Boston Bibliophile Society in an edition of 469. With slipcase. Minor wear to slipcases. Weight 15 oz. PROVENANCE: A Charleston SC Private Estate.
