Description
China - 1368 AD - 1644 AD Six (6) Ming Dynasty tomb attendants. Figures of this type were created during the Ming Dynasty and were placed in tombs to accompany and serve the deceased in the afterlife. All wear traditional robes and stand on raised platforms. Five are holding offerings and the largest has his hands tucked into his sleeves. Their garments are covered in green and gold glazes of various shades. Most have black and red details remaining on the unglazed faces and heads.Two of the figures (#2 and #3) have removable heads that slot into openings at the neck. Four are intact; two of the figures (#3 and #6) have glued breaks below the waist, near the knees. All have ample earthen and mineral deposits along with minor surface imperfections as would be expected. Ex. J. Behnkin estate of Atlanta, GA. Sizes range from the smallest at 7" tall to the largest at 10" tall.
