Description
Lot of 10 of the colorful Puck satire magazines from Aug. 21 to Nov. 6, 1889. Front and back covers as well as inside doubletruck pages in full color. Issues of the day covered like a blanket (politics, robber barons, Uncle Sam, temperance, tariff reform, patronage and the spoils system, religion), but inside text mostly light commentary, jokes, satirical observations, cartoons (many racial ones) and poems (one issue has wonderful baseball poem). What do you expect? Their slogan is “What Fools These Mortals Be.” Published by Keppler & Schwarzmann, N.Y. Removed from volume, leaving some front and back covers loose, but not to affect art/text. All good condition and very displayable.
