Map of eastern Brazil originally published in Montanus's De Nieuwe en Onbekende Wereld. In the context of the larger theater of the Eighty Years' War and Spanish and Portuguese (as well as Dutch) interests in the New World, it depicts the Oriented to the West, it reveals early misconceptions about the source of the Amazon and the Rio de la Plata being a series of lakes called Puerto de los Reyes.
The map includes a clear depiction of the Linea Aequioctialis, dividing Spanish and Portugese colonial claims. Verso Text: Blank
