Description
Meissen figural porcelain grouping titled "The Decisive Choice" depicting a central female embracing her male lover while spurning her weeping rival, raised on a naturalistic oval base with relief floral decoration. Blue crossed swords mark to the underside along with an impressed mark "J.49". 12 1/4" H. Late 19th century. Provenance: Baltimore estates of Virginia Howard Miller (c. 1880-1946) and Hugh Purviance King (1873-1966) passed down to present Living Estate of Virginia Johnston, Chattanooga, TN. Condition
Break to index finger on right hand of standing female with losses to top of her hat and firing flaw/crack to right shoulder seam. Break to part of male's sash. Minute scattered losses to floral ground.
