Description
Collection of 14 silver "Picture Back" spoons, all with oval handles and raised pictorial designs to the backs of the bowls. Includes 1 American long handled spoon with dove and olive branch motif with mark for Abraham DuBois (working Philadelphia, 1777-1802) and New York (c. 1803; d. 1807). Three others are likely American, mid rib pattern with shell designs, all marked in rectangles _TE (first letter very worn and illegible). The other ten are likely English including 1 with basket of flowers, 1 with dove and olive branch, 4 with Rococo style Shell and Scroll design, and 4 with scallop shell design. 2 of the Shell and Scroll design spoons have marks for William Woodward (working London, circa 1760) ; the other two are marked TD or JD (possibly Thompson Davis) and MI. The remaining spoons have illegible marks. All approximately 4 1/4" L except for the Dubois spoon - 6" L. Combined weight 4.46 oz troy. All mid to late 18th century. Most with Hanoverian style monograms and light to moderate wear to pictureback designs.
