Description
Workshop of Nonomura Ninsei (Japanese, active ca. 1646–94), with his mark impressed into the unglazed base with an old Western Collector's label or auction label "171"; the sides glazed in Kyoto style with colored enamels and gold, Mount Fuji in the distance in unglazed slip, the reverse with a seated figure in blue and brown with a gold hat viewing the sacred mountain. Hairline, light wear to gold. Height 3 3/8 inches (8.6 cm.). Diameter 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm.).
