The Book of Martyrs by John Foxe , revised “ by an impartial hand” Edward Bulkley , Printed by J. Hart , London : 1732 . This historic text in an early edition has been professionally resorted in 1995 with care toward preservation of original materials while supporting the text, illustrations and binding for longevity and preservation. A very early , 18th to 19th century restoration of the illustration on page 438-439 through stitching of a tear in the high fiber content page has been left by the 1995 restoration intact as evidence of the unique history and esteemed value of this copy to it’s former owners. The text is illustrated throughout with copper plate based engraved images . The binding has an early reinforcement with burlap style cloth over the 6 ridge spine. Noted heavy restoration of pages 967 – 969 with support and reinforcement that leaves portions of the text on these pages lost. This culturally important, historic account was first printed in the 16th century and remains a point of scholarship to this day. 9 ¾ x 15 x 2 ½ inches
