Spruce, maple. English, c. 1840-1850. Violin Body: 358mm (approx. 14"). Case: Height: 5", Length: 30", Width: 9 1/2". Violin appears to be English, and has a grafted scroll, added later in the 19th C. The one-piece top plate is of a straight and tightly grained spruce. The purfling is made from dyed and bleached maple. The ribs and the one-piece back plate are made from a wide grained highly flamed maple. Item includes seven wooden bridge replacements, a block of rosin, and appears unmarked. Violin case includes compartment for rosin, strings, bridges, etc.

Good Condition; there are no strings on violin or bow, and the violin displays overall wear consistent with age and use, including minor surface wear, and some repair to the bow.
