MARYLAND/ RHODE ISLAND, 1875-1915 A watercolor on paper painting of a passenger ship by William Reuben Clark Wood. The work depicts the German steamship Prinzessin Victoria Luise off the New England coast on her maiden voyage. The ship was launched in 1900 later sinking in 1906. The vessel is credited with having been the first purpose-built cruise ship. The work is signed "W. R. Clark Wood" and dated "1901" in the lower right corner.
Dimensions:WC on paper adhered to board measures 21" by 31 3/4".
