Description
As she dances, she plays her flute ever so graciously as if it is the music from the heavens. She is a gorgeous and quaint girl, she wears a loosed flowing dress that bunches by her legs and flows with her every movement. She holds her petite hands up and blows through her flute creating magical sounds. She has a thick belt around her waist helping to break up the sculpture and give her dimension. This is a beautiful piece and is sure to add a touch of class to any room. This sculpture was cast using the Lost Wax Method and has a gorgeous two tone brown patina. She is mounted on a black marble base and is 100% bronze. This sculpture is signed by the artist Collett. Claire Jeanne Roberte Colinet (1852-1908)Belgian sculptor Colinet was well known in her day and remembered for her series Dancers of the World, which included Ankara Dancer. Colinet worked in ivory, bronze and chryselephantine, as did most other sculptors of the time. Colinet regularly incorporated theatrical themes into her sculptors, especially with her Dancers. Colinet s sculptures were not stoic and frozen, but were full-figured and energized with strong impressions while being dynamically posed. Colinet s sculptures were exhibited at the Parisian Salons from 1913 through 1940. Condition: This sculpture is in a very Good condition.
