A striking portrait by Richard Avedon that captures the personality and soul of this wizened old woman. It is a 6 3/4x9 1/4" vintage borderless gelatin silver print, unmounted and in excellent condition and is extremely sharp (3 area enlargements are shown) with fine tone and contrast. I do not know when this photograph was taken or the age of the print but it has been in my collection for over 20 years. It was bought at auction, and purported to belong to a person in the publishing field. "R Avedon" is written in ink on the verso.
