Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $300**

Western Europe, Spain, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A majolica (maiolica) tin-glazed shallow terracotta bowl, with a pronounced round foot and sides that abruptly widen near the top into a gently sloping rim. The base color is a white glaze with dark grey outlines and a blue and green bird amongst leaves depicted in tondo. The upward-facing rim of the bowl has a thick, dark-grey outlined bright blue ring around it. The underside of the bowl is glazed with white everywhere but the foot. Bowls like this one were manufactured by pottery guilds throughout the Spanish Empire, with their location determinable from the type of glaze and pottery used, and this example is from Spain itself. Size: 7.2" W x 1.5" H (18.3 cm x 3.8 cm)

Provenance: ex Scollard collection, Los Angeles, California, USA
