Africa, Cameroon, Fali people, ca. 20th century CE. A simply gorgeous leather headdress for women in the Fali tribe of Cameroon. The form is that of a broad crescent moon, with braided and spiralized terminals shaped by an interior curved metal panel on either end. The body is comprised of dozens of small leather strands held tightly in place by small circular metal rings and additional leather strips. A light-brown braided peripheral section is threaded into the interior lining of the headpiece, and dozens of short twine strands hold hundreds of small beads in hues of red, blue, white, yellow, green, orange, and brown. Utterly stunning and certainly wearable! Size: 8" H (20.3 cm).
