Item Details

Description

Mahogany Victorian tall case clock, 3 weight brass movement chiming on 8 bells and spiral wire, round silvered dial with black Roman numerals around chapter ring, applied carvings on case, beveled glass door, scalloped top with brass ball and spire finials, 92 3/4" high. This bells strike progressively on the 1/4 hour, on the hour after a 4 segment bell strike, the spiral wire gong strikes the hour. There is an "8 Bells / 4 Gongs" switch missing from the front of the dial, and there is evidence that there was a bank of 4 gongs to the right side of the movement. The brass cable on the right train needs to be refastened to the winding drum.
