Description
Zatta's remarkable map focused on Lake Superior and its islands with a large inset (measuring 6 1/2" x 5 1/2") featuring southern Florida and the Bahamas. The cartographer has endowed Florida with mountains and other fanciful bits of topography, and shows many towns, forts, etc. A beautifully colored and preserved exemplar of this fascinating map from Zatta's Atlante Novissimo.
Antonio Zatta (1722-1804) was an Italian cartographer who created the 4 volume atlas of the world, Atlante Novissimo.
