Description
**Originally Listed At $600**
Central Asia, Russia / Siberia, late Andronovo culture / late Bronze Age, ca. 1000 to 800 BCE. An interestingly-shaped copper dagger with a shallow-ridged triangular blade and a handle with small, ovoid pommel that has a deep incision on one side, perhaps for holding a weight, a votive charm, or some kind of contraband. The handle was made to be wrapped with leather, bone, or some other perishable material when the piece was first cast. During this time period, influences from the southeast, especially the Lake Baikal region, led to entirely new forms of bronze weaponry and other items in the steppe landscape. Pastoralism replaced the nomadic culture of the earlier Bronze Age, and warriors were buried with beautiful weapons like this one. Size: 1.5" W x 9.55" H (3.8 cm x 24.3 cm)
Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.
We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.
