Longue Marche interchangeable cylinder Swiss music box, (6) 11" cylinders each playing 6 tunes, with tune cards, with a storage drawer for 4 at base of case, the black lacquer lid on a case with rosewood banded burl veneer, string inlay, ebonized trim, 39" wide 15" h, 14 1/2" deep, with zither bar, round embossed metal tag affixed, " United States March 1th / 1881/ England Sept 16th / 1879 / Longue Marche Patented". The "Longue Marche" mechanism provided for double spring barrels which enabled the box to play an extra long time between windings. The machine restored in the last 20 years, plays very nicely with crisp notes and volume.
