Description
Sitting in padmasana position on a double lotus base. The right hand is in the encouraging gesture of abhayamudra, the left hand, in avakasamudra, holds a book. The figure is wearing monastic garments, and a pointed hat typical of the Gelug-pa school. Pigments and silver present on face. It is likely that the figure might represent one of the two main disciples of master Tsong Khapa, Gyaltsab je (1364-1432), or one of the Dalai Lamas. Provenance: Johann und Ursula Strebel, Wiesbaden Germany
