Description
**First Time At Auction**

North America, Native American, Southeastern US, Eastern Woodland peoples, ca. 500 to 1500 CE. A carved greenstone banner stone used as a weight for an atlatl. The stone has a smooth surface, large twin axe-blade-shaped wings on either lateral end, and a central section with a raised midrib and biconically-drilled perforation hole. This tool provided added weight to an atlatl (or spear-throwing pole), providing the wielder greater power and control over the launched projectile. Size: 5.75" Diameter (14.6 cm).
