Description
DESCRIPTION: Der Blutige Schau Platz Oder Martyrer Spiegel by T.J.V. Braght. Leather hardcover. Printed in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania by Joseph Ehrenfried in 1814. Joseph Ehrenfried arrived in Lancaster County from Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany in 1802. He was employed by the print shop of Johann Albrecht, where he worked as translator and book keeper. Ehrenfried's 1814 Martyrs' Mirror bankrupted him and he worked for the printer John Baer for the next 20 years. He then relocated to Harrisburg, where he printed German-language works for the State of Pennsylvania, during the governorship of Governor Joseph Ritner. MEASUREMENTS: 15" x 10" x 3-1/2". CONDITION: Wear and losses to cover. Pages with toning, foxing, discoloration and edge wear.
