Description
Chinese Qi knife money or knife coins are among the earliest coinage ever made. Knife money circulated in China between 600 and 200 B.C. during the Zhou dynasty. This commodity money was produced by various governments and kingdoms and associated with particular cities, but has almost always been found largely in what is the modern day Shandong province. Various inscriptions on the money may represent numbers or characters possibly reflecting the value of the money. Knife money is cast with a copper-rich bronze alloy. This black velvet lined presentation case contains 8 fine examples of this coinage. Each Qi Knife Money 5.75" long. Case 12"x7.50"x1.25" Weight is 1 pd 8 oz.
