Description
A MARQUETRY INLAID BIRCH AND ELM SIDE CHAIR, LAST HALF 18TH CENTURY, PROBABLY DUTCH, the flat crest rail centering baroque style shell fronted by a Dutch style portrait, over an undulating vertical splat inlaid with a caryatid handled urn, flowering with a bouquet of tulips and centered by a bird, within stiles inlaid with leafy tendrils and tulips, above a bowed seat, now in blue velvet upholstery with matching gimp trim, raised on cabriole legs with like inlaid tulips, ending in pad feet, joined by a flat tulip inlaid front rail. Height: 36 1/2" Width: 20 1/2" Depth: 15 1/2"
Condition
Some expected surface wear, minor losses to the inlay, some joint separation, but otherwise in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
