Description
New World, Spanish Colonial, Central America, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A painted plaster santo figure depicting a rather playful Christ Child, with a sensitively-carved face and brown glass eyes. The artist has wonderfully delineated and painted details, wavy hair, and expressive facial features. In addition he is presented in traditional pose with his right hand making a gesture of benediction / blessing. Custom stand. Size: 15.5" H (39.4 cm); 17.75" H (45.1 cm) on included custom stand.

Glass eyes intact. Perforation to buttocks, presumably for former attachment. Remains of wooden dowel in left shoulder. Possible areas of repainting.
