Description
A LARGE FRENCH RELIEF CARVED WALNUT MILITARY PLAQUE, CIRCA 1923. Depicting the horse mounted figure of Maxime Weygand, commander-in-chief Levant, against a middle eastern backdrop with cavalry figures, castle and palm trees. Signed by sculpture lower right Raminason and with a title plaque inscribed "General Weygand". Height 31.75 inches x 19.25 inches (80.5 x 49 cm).
Note: Maxime Weygand was the commander-in-chief Levant for the French mandate in Lebanon and Syria during 1923.
