A PAIR OF INTERESTING IMPERIAL RUSSIAN PERIOD MENUS. The first by noted graphic artist Ignaty Nivinsky (1880 - 1933), dated April 11, 1900 (Easter Tuesday), printed in colors, highlighted in silver paint, and depicting Imperial Russian imagery including the double headed eagle and St. George slaying a dragon. The central section with elaborate menu, the name of the artist, and printed by A.A. Levenson, Moscow. Contained in a glazed frame with the bottom displaying brocade cloth, overall dimension including frame 28.75 inches x 9 inches (73 x 22.5 cm). Together with an original watercolor design for a menu celebrating the centennial of the Battle of Borodino depicting at top center St. George slaying a dragon within a ribbon tied vistory wreath and below a scroll emblazed in Russian with the name Borodino and the dates 1812 - 1912. The mid-ground and fore-ground depicting the two monuments and a victory arch, and at right center a lunch menu for 15 September 1912, the lower right corner signed in Cyrillic by the artist S. Rodionov and dated 1912. Contained in a glazed frame with the bottom displaying brocade cloth, overall dimension including frame 27.25 inches x 12.25 inches (69.5 x 31 cm).
