Item Details

Description

A FRENCH RENAISSANCE CARVED WALNUT BENCH, PROBABLY 17TH CENTURY OR OLDER. With three paneled back. The central panel carved with an Episcopal shield form cartouche flanked by coiled ropes and tassels in deep relief and with end panels carved with four part arrow root rosettes and clam shell spandrels. Supported by fluted back styles and raised on spool turned front legs. Mortis and Tennon joinery throughout. Some early losses. Length 56 inches (142.5 cm), height 35 inches (89 cm), depth 16 inches (40.5 cm).
