Description
Yamamoto Shoun (1870-1965) was a Japanese print designer, painter, and illustrator. At the age of 17, he moved to Tokyo to study art. He was employed as an illustrator for Fugoku gaho, a pictorial magazine dealing with the sights in and around Tokyo. After his work in magazine illustration, he became well known for his woodblock prints of beautiful women. Shoun if often considered a bridge between the ukiyo-e and shin hanga movements.
