Rare, carved Chinese spinach-green jade table screen, consist of eight rectangular shaped plaques, intrigue carved with Buddha figures and Buddhist prayer inscriptions in gilt characters. Carved on both sides, the front side is a painting; on the back upper part, it is carved with Buddhist Sutra calligraphy in Chinese Characters. The green jade shows dark green translucent, with lighter and darker iridescent. The green jade plaques are encased in a wooden frame. The frame is inserted in a carved stand made of elaborate carved hard wood. It is very likely that the green jade plaques were executed between the late 18th and the early 19th century and that they were not originally intended to be used as a table screen but rather as a book.
