MERMOD FRERES IDEAL SUBLIME HARMONIE INTERCHANGEABLE CYLINDER MUSIC BOX WITH TABLE, inlaid mahogany case with ebonized molding, single comb with 75 teeth, 11 1/4" cylinder, original celluloid label under lid, works with Mermod Freres trademark and patent information, including Jacot's Patented Safety Check, set on a custom matching inlaid and ebonized table stand with octagonal top, raised on carved cabriole legs, inset centered cylinder drawer with two additional cylinders, retaining three original song lists, and receipt. Reserve. Fourth quarter 19th century. Music box 8 1/2" H (closed) 29 1/2" x 14 1/2" OA, stand 28 7/8" H, 40" x 23 1/4".
Excellent condition overall, currently working, table with some minor wear and areas of separation and related splitting to veneer, song lists with some minor losses to edges/corners.

Descended in the Jenkins family of Baltimore, MD._x000D_
According to family history, the music box was originally ordered by a Confederate veteran after the war.
Catalogue Note: The song lists would seem to corroborate the family history, including "Dixie's Land" (sic), "Darling Nelly Gray", "Maryland, My Maryland", "Old Black Joe", and "Old Folks at Home" (better known as "Suwanee River").
