Silk with painting and mounts of wood and bronze. Japan, Edo Period
A set of interesting silk scrolls with paintings framed in silk with floral motifs, inside an old wooden box. The central and largest one, with finely gold painted central Bodhisattva with likenesses surrounding her on clouds. The two neighboring scrolls depicting monks.
Shape: Scrolls with bronze and wood mounts
Dimensions: HEIGHT 75.5 CM
Condition: The central one with only a tear to the fabric, painting in good condition; the other two with losses to painting; all worn and soiled
Provenance: From an old Austrian private collection acquired before 1930
