Street, New York City 17. Copyright 1940. Pictorial map of the United States depicting the great ethnic and religious diversity throughout the nation, illustrated with people at work, famous buildings, factories, agriculture, livestock, oil wells, and ore mines. Long red ribbons wind across the landscape showing settlement clusters of various ethnic groups. Two insets lists of nationalities pointing to Americans from, and the densely populated in the Northeast. A large inset on lower left, lists famous names under the headings Literature, Science, Industry, and The Arts, with their professions and ethnic background, statistical list including members of various religious groups, noted "These statistics are taken from the official yearbooks of the three major religious groups". A large illustration of the head of a Native American off the coast of Florida bears the caption, “With the exception of the Indian all Americans or their forefathers came here from other countries. This map shows where they live, what they do, and what their religion is.” Contained under glass in a wood frame.
