A beautiful 19th Century sterling silver repoussé bowl with a repeating floral pattern from Kirk & Son. Their repose work is among the best and this is no exception with beautiful high relief flowers and and chasing to add another layer. The base of the bowl is marked S Kirk & Son Co, 925/1000 and the number 103. S. Kirk & Son did not begin to use the word STERLING until 1914, dating this piece to 1868-1896. (Early pieces such as this one have 925/1000 written on them). The bowl measures 3.5 inches tall and has a diameter of 8 inches. It weighs 402 grams or 13 oz troy.

The Stieff Company, located in Baltimore, Maryland, was founded in 1892 and became known as Kirk-Stieff in 1979. It is renowned for the quality and value of its silver products, along with its elegant hand-chasing and Repoussé work. Its most well-known pattern, introduced in 1892, is Maryland or Stieff Rose.
